Joyous August Celebration in Honolulu

The August celebration was wonderful with a welcome picnic, meditation and intensives throughout the week, the beautiful initiation ceremony, the fun-filled celebration evening, and the aloha picnic which closed the August celebration. We thank all of the out-of-towners who travelled long distances to join us in Honolulu for this annual gathering. We also thank all of the Honolulu spiritual family for accommodating the out-of-towners and for all of their effort in the planning and preparation for this event, which helped to make this celebration so joyous. The Australia, New Jersey, San Francisco and Los Angeles spiritual families had all of us rolling on the lawn with peals of laughter and delight in their creative skits and presentations. We thank Jon, Jane and Jade Anderson, Melanie Vasquez, Gary Maeda, Gary Barlough, Moon Otter Wallace, and Teri Koyanagi for sharing their beautiful voices and songs with us. The spiritual family has so many talented, gifted people and we express our heartfelt appreciation to all of you for sharing yourselves so lovingly and generously with everyone. Congratulations to Stephen Lee, Karen Harimoto, Claudia Evenshore-Dunham, Denise Yota, Teri Koyanagi and John Tsukahira, on their initiation on August 15th, the day of the celebration. For those who wish to plan in advance, next year’s August celebration schedule will be as follows:

Saturday, August 7, 1999 - Intensives and Meditation
Sunday, August 8, 1999 - Welcome Picnic
Monday-Friday, August 9-13, 1999 - Intensives and Meditation
Saturday, August 14, 1999 - Initiation; Evening Celebration
Sunday, August 15, 1999 - Aloha Picnic

Enjoy the photographs in this issue, which captured some of our fabulous moments together during the August festivities.

Recovering from Abuse

To look at the apparently normal, successful businesswoman that I appeared to be on the surface, one would never guess at the years of sexual, emotional and mental abuse that I had suffered since childhood. I had become a master of denial. Denial protected me from the pain and suffering. (Read More)
